Sacrament
Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Forgive me, Father For I have sinned Against my mind and body, Spirit and soul What penance Must I offer For seeking solace In arms too weak to hold me? Shall I fast Forty days and forty nights? Watch my reflection Disappear? Forgive me, Father For I have sinned Loved him more And forgot myself What penance Must I offer To read these poems And no longer think of him? Shall I offer My body as the eucharist? And my tears as holy water? Wrap his word in my skin? Forgive me, Father For I have sinned Betrayed my intuition Fell in love with an illusion What penance Must I offer In exchange For absolution? Shall I learn to pray The Hail Mary That I might be forgiven Of the sin of loving him?
